Wellness benefits
On July 1, 2020, the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) expanded the tax-free wellness benefit that companies can offer their employees to include digitally delivered wellness services. This means meditation and mindfulness apps are approved by Skatteverket 🙌
New rules from 2022
Skatteverket has issued clearer guidelines on how wellness benefit reimbursements are handled. Reimbursements for wellness expenses must be made within the current calendar year — i.e. no later than the December payroll.
This may mean your employer needs your wellness receipts by October 31 at the latest, to ensure they can be processed before year-end. We recommend checking with your employer.
Please note this does not affect orders made through wellness portals such as Benify, Wellnet, and ePassi, as the wellness benefit is charged directly at the time of purchase. Orders made through portals can therefore still be placed up until December 31 and count towards the current year’s benefit.
How to use your wellness benefit
Check with your employer which activities are covered and what the maximum amount is. Some employers reimburse employees after the fact — in that case, you pay for the app yourself and submit a receipt to your employer. Others use vouchers or have partnerships with digital wellness portals.
To retrieve a receipt for your Mindfully subscription through the App Store, you’ll have received one by email when the subscription was created. You can also access it via your purchase history by logging in to Apple with your Apple ID. Read more here about how to do it.
If you have your Mindfully subscription through Google Play, you can access receipts by logging in to the Google Store, clicking Subscriptions & services, and then View purchases. Read more here about how to do it.

How to activate your purchase through a wellness portal
After purchasing a subscription through a wellness portal, you need to register the purchase with us. Download the app, sign up as a user, and go to Profile > Settings > Wellness benefits and gift cards > Activate subscription from wellness portals. Select your portal and enter your order number or equivalent — we’ll activate your subscription within one business day. You’ll receive an email once your subscription has been started.
